TFA is… Community. Service.
We are community powered. This means that while the we receive some grant funding, many of the programs and services provided to the community are supported – either in whole or in part – by the community itself.

Even small donations help. For the price of a trip to Starbucks, you can ensure that a local transgender is able to use the bus to get to their appointments.
- No shelter will house a homeless transgender person. No grant will pay for transgender-specific emergency shelter. You can be there for your transgender brothers and sisters when others turned their backs on them.
- The HIV infection rate in the transgender community is higher than ANY OTHER population. The transgender center has the highest rate of identifying HIV and getting the individual into care in Harris County.
- No other place like the Houston Transgender Center exists…. anywhere. The transgender community envisions, creates and runs all programs and services at the Transgender Center.
TFA works for the community because we are run, guided by and funded by the community. The TG Center and Library and Archive is our community’s connection to transgender arts, humanities, history and services.
