Thursday (9/25/2008)
What: TG Social Group
When: 7 to 9 PM
Cost: Free
Please bring a dish to share with your fellow community members. This is a laidback way to meet and get to know your transgender community. Share food, fun and a few drinks* with your friends or go upstairs to watch a movie on the 10 foot screen. Free HIV tests are available in the clinical area. This event is free.
*BYOB: Alcoholic drinks are limited to beer and wine only. Liquor is not allowed. Drinking to excess will result in your expulsion from the center.
Friday (9/26/2008):
What: TG Buddhist Meditation Group
When: 7 to 9 PM
Cost: Free
This is a traditional Theravada Buddhist meditation group for transgender individuals. While this 30 minute meditation is traditional, attendees are not required to participate in any of the traditional Theravada Buddhist practices or meditation positions. If you feel that you would like to participate in the traditional sitting positions, it is strongly suggested that attendees bring a zafu (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Zafu).
Saturday (9/27/2008):
What: Texas Association for Transsexual Support (TATS)
When: 4 to 5 PM
Cost: Free
This meeting is specifically designed to meet the needs of transsexuals. This group requires that individuals go though a screening process prior to attending meetings.
What: Some Transgenders Are Guys (STAG)
When: 5 to 6 PM
Cost: Free
This meeting is specifically designed to meet the needs of Female-To-Male (FTM) transgenders.
Monday (9/29/2008):
What: TG Center Community Advisory Board (CAB)
When: 6 to 7 PM
Cost: Free
This is a meeting of the Transgender Foundation of America’s (TFA) TG Center Community Advisory Board. This group advises the TFA Board of Directors on issues affecting the community and makes recommendations to address issues affecting the community and make recommendations concerning funding allocation.
What: Helping TransGenders Anonymous (HTGA)
When: 7 to 9 PM
Cost: Free
This is a facilitated group discussion meeting for transgenders, SOs, friends, family and supporters of TGs.
